Innes Aitken is a Chartered Building Surveyor and Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Innes graduated from Glasgow College of Building & Printing in 1989 and immediately joined Graham & Sibbald's Dundee Office, setting up a new Building Surveying department therein. He led a busy department of Building Surveyors and continued to expand the department over the years. Over his last 5 years, he also took charge of the Building Surveying Department in Graham & Sibbald's Aberdeen Office and continued to run the departments in both Dundee & Aberdeen Offices until his departure, to set up his own business. While historically having covered Dundee, Aberdeen & the northeast of Scotland, as well as Perthshire and Fife, for Graham & Sibbald, his new business covers the whole of the country.
He is an accredited expert witness and has undertaken the Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence training, run by Legal Experience Training for RICS. The accreditation is a level 7 BTEC which is at the level of a Masters. He has successfully completed the assessments and has been awarded the Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence. He has further been assessed & approved by the RICS as an RICS Accredited Expert Witness.

Innes has a wide and in-depth experience of all common Building Surveying services. Dilapidations, Schedules of Condition, Building Surveys & Planned Maintenance Inspections have provided regular day-to-day work but he has also had regular experience with Defect Analysis and Expert Witness services, relating to contract disputes, workmanship disputes, snagging, accidents & trips and landlord/tenant disputes. He has further regularly provided Reinstatement Cost Assessments to a variety of clients, for Insurance purposes. Innes' experience in the previously-mentioned Professional Services is complemented by his decades of experience in Construction Projects. He has provided numerous roles, including acting as Contract Administrator, in designing, tendering and administering numerous and varied projects, including New Build, Extensions, Refurbishments, Alterations, Fire/Flood Damage Reinstatement, Repairs & Maintenance. Innes has also provided Project Monitor services on a number of multi-million pound New Build and Redevelopment projects, for funders, investors and tenants.
